IDNR Important Areas
The IDNR Office of Resource Conservation and Office of Land Management have identified eight important areas where the Department can actively implement the goals of the State Wildlife Action Plan through their exciting annual Plan of Work process. These areas (two sites each for the four habitat-based Campaigns) were selected because IDNR believes there is great opportunity for Department staff to implement specific goals and actions on properties we own and manage. The sites that were identified include:
- Farmland and Prairie: Pyramid State Recreation Area and Saybrook/Sibley Habitat Areas
- Forest Campaign: Trail of Tears State Forest and Siloam Springs State Park
- Streams Campaign: Vermillion River (Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area, Kickapoo State Recreation Area) and Apple River Canyon State Park
- Wetland Campaign: Sanganois State Fish and Wildlife Area and Moraine Hills State Park
