Wildlife Volunteers

Division of Wildlife Resources

Office of Resource Conservation

The Division of Wildlife Resources occasionally offers volunteer opportunities for the following activities:

  • Controlled burns
  • Habitat establishment and maintenance
  • Furbearer census routes, woodcock counts, and upland bird surveys.
  • Canada goose, mourning dove, or wood duck banding in June-September depending on the species. Note – we sometimes need to limit volunteer participation due to disease or programmatic concerns.
  • Chronic Wasting Disease sampling
  • Filing and scanning at headquarters, regional, and district offices

Preference for field volunteer opportunities will be given to those pursuing an education and/or career in wildlife management. Volunteers for field work should be in good health and be prepared to work outdoors for long hours under rough conditions.
