Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

Attention hunters: Visit our FAQ page for information about the use of centerfire, single-shot rifles for deer hunting in Illinois.

Heidecke Lake opens each year on April 1st, weather permitting, and closes 10 days before waterfowl season opens. Goose Lake Prairie Visitor Center may be closed on weekends due to staffing; please call to verify hours of operation.

Located southeast of Morris, Heidecke Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area is managed by the Department of Natural Resources for fishing and hunting. DNR has leased Heidecke Lake since 1978, when it was built as a cooling lake for the Collins Power Plant, which now is owned and operated by Midwest Generation. The lake provides more than 1,300 acres of prime fishing opportunities.

Heidecke Lake Closing Policy:  If wind speeds are forecast to be 25mph or above at any time during the day, Heidecke Lake access to boat fishing will be closed. Bank fishing will still be available at the Heidecke Lake Bank Fishing Area off E. Collins Rd. Wind speeds are check daily by using the NOAA wind forecast at the Morris Muni-James R Washburn Field Airport here.
