Troubleshooting Adobe PDF Issues

Trouble Printing, Viewing and Saving PDF Files

When trying to view, print, or save PDF (Portable Document Format) forms, instructions, and publications, a small percentage of users may experience difficulties. Below are some links to helpful tips that may alleviate some of the most common problems:

Trouble with XFA-based PDF forms

Some of our PDF Fillable forms are XFA-based PDF forms. The built-in PDF viewer introduced with Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Apple Safari and Google Chrome do not support XFA-based PDF forms. Therefore, XFA-based PDF forms do not open and will prompt you to upgrade your Adobe PDF Reader to the latest version in later versions of these browsers.  In most cases after upgrading your Reader the message still appears.

Another alternative way is to follow the steps outlined in the "Trouble Printing, Viewing and Saving PDF Files" section and download the document to your machine or device.  Then you can open that document from your machine using the Adobe Reader that supports XFA-based documents.
