Project Title: Conservation Actions to Address Invasive Species Threats in the Cache River and Shawnee COAs

Community and/or Species Focus:

 Cache River, Shawnee National Forest

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Develop and implement a management plan for reducing invasive species in Conservation Opportunity Areas (COAs)
  2. Continue to raise awareness about invasive species
  3. Reduce the spread and impact of invasive species in lands with significant ecological resources through prevention techniques
  4. Establish and implement an effective Early Detection program
Achievements:
  1. ​Worked with landowners to assist in developing management plans for invasive species control
  2. Management plans for 3 priority watersheds, 3 priority invasive species, and 6 natural areas
  3. A working online mapping and reporting system
  4. Implemented public outreach events and recreational management
