Project Title: Conservation Actions to Address Invasive Species Threats in the Cache River and Shawnee COAs
Community and/or Species Focus:
Cache River, Shawnee National Forest
Goals/Objectives:
- Develop and implement a management plan for reducing invasive species in Conservation Opportunity Areas (COAs)
- Continue to raise awareness about invasive species
- Reduce the spread and impact of invasive species in lands with significant ecological resources through prevention techniques
- Establish and implement an effective Early Detection program
Achievements:
- Worked with landowners to assist in developing management plans for invasive species control
- Management plans for 3 priority watersheds, 3 priority invasive species, and 6 natural areas
- A working online mapping and reporting system
- Implemented public outreach events and recreational management
