Project Title: Coordinating Strategy Development and Habitat Enhancement for Monarch Butterfly, a Focal Species of the Farmland and Prairie Campaign

Community and/or Species Focus: Monarch Butterfly

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Compile the Illinois' state summary for the Mid-Continental Monarch Butterfly Conservation Strategy
  2. Organize second Illinois Monarch Butterfly Summit
  3. Prepare an Illinois Monarch Project Action Plan that includes strategies to meet habitat targets
  4. Provide a primary point of contact and coordination for the Illinois Monarch Project and related activities
Achievements:
  1. ​A documented strategy for monarch butterfly conservation in Illinois that includes statewide and sector-specific targets
  2. A developed structure for planning and communicating about the Illinois Monarch Project
  3. An active and informed set of stakeholders that support the project through participation at the summit and​ other commitments
  4. A plan for ongoing funding for the Illinois Monarch Project
