Project Title: Inventory of Amphibians and Reptiles in the Green River Conservation Opportunity Area

Community and/or Species Focus: Herptile species

Goals/Objectives:

  1. Conduct a comprehensive inventory of amphibians and reptiles at Green River State Wildlife Area (GRSWA)
  2. Assess changes in species composition since 1991
  3. Conduct initial inventories and compile existing data from other sites within Green River COA
  4. Compare species composition and health between areas of different management practices at GRSWA
  5. Compare species composition and health of grassland species among regional restoration sites

Achievements:

  1. ​An up-to-date inventory of herptiles at GRSWA
  2. A better understanding of the ways in which management actions contribute to persistence and health of native herptiles
  3. Filled information gaps and identification of conservation actions beneficial​ to the Farmland & Prairie Campaign
  4. Restoration of the rich mosaic of plant and wildlife by development and management of grassland ecosystems capable of maintaining viable species populations
